Vacant Spaces project
Vacant Spaces is a project which aims to assist artists to utilise empty shops and buildings in our towns for short term art projects. Vast Arts is currently seeking expressions of interest from artists, landlords, community groups and others who may be interested in participating in this project in 2014. CHANNEL COUNTRY PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION PRESENTATIONS - Sunday 13th October 2013
Presented by Vast Arts and Desert Channels Group, the Channel Country Photography Competition is an annual event that asks photographers to capture the essence of this unique region through the lens of a camera. Entries are now closed for 2013 and official presentations to the prizewinners took take place on Sunday 13th October 2013 at The Hugh Sawrey Gallery in Longreach, Qld. The 12 winning images plus 12 other highly commended images chosen from the entries are featuring in an exhibition at the Hugh Sawrey Gallery at the Stockmans Hall of Fame, Longreach and at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in Brisbane (thanks to Flying Arts Alliance). The Grassland Art Gallery in Tambo, Qld features local artist as well as quality touring exhibitions throughout the year and is run by the Tambo Arts Council on behalf of the Blackall-Tambo Regional Council. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:45pm.
